My PhD research focused on developing targeted therapeutics and diagnostics for drug-resistant breast cancer and microbial infections. I have experience working across disciplines, where I have worked in two biotechnology in vitro diagnostic companies (lateral flow technology), providing strong knowledge of analytical biochemistry techniques. Throughout my scientific career, I was a keen science communicator, creating content for both technical and general audiences. From writing literature reviews, reports and theses, to designing and delivering poster and PowerPoint presentations, workshops/courses for school students and stalls for outreach purposes. I have written on a wide range of scientific topics in both digital and print formats. I really enjoy translating these complex scientific concepts and information into clear and accessible graphics for data visualisation, graphical abstracts, illustrations and infographics. I am comfortable distilling primary literature as I regularly contribute plain language summaries to eLife Sciences Publications, where I must keep to strict deadlines and briefs. These summaries accompany the published journal article online and are intended for a general audience. I love pulling out the key messages, turning technical information into an accessible format. I also write more technical articles for the marketing website AZoLifeSciences, with SEO attributes. While my research specialisation was oncology and microbiology focused, I have written on topics from immunology to artificial intelligence and always keen to take on new areas. With strong attention to detail, I am also trained in editing scientific documents.
