Angelica Kaufmann: Philosopher of Mind

0

Angelica Kaufmann is a philosopher of mind and evolutionary anthropologist at Kolabtree.

I am a philosopher of mind, currently investigating:

  • the experience of temporal properties
  • the temporal dimension of action
  • cultural variations in cognition

I was educated in logic and philosophy of science at Milan University, my hometown, and in philosophy of mind at the University of Edinburgh. I then completed a PhD in philosophy of psychology at Antwerp University, with a dissertation entitled Animal Intention. This work represents the first systematic theory of intention applied to the study of animal cognition from a philosophical, ethological, psychological, and neuroscientific perspective.

In 2016 I was awarded the Research Associate Fellowship of the Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America at Columbia University in the City of New York. In 2017 I was Early Career Fellow of the Lichtenberg-Kolleg at the University of Göttingen and of the Leibniz Institute for Primate Research. The Leibniz Foundation also sponsored my work at the Primate Research Institute of Kyoto University. In 2018 I have been awarded the Postdoctoral Fellowship of the Sidney M. Edelstein Center for the History and Philosophy of Science, Technology and Medicine at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I was Visiting Professor at Boğaziçi University, in Istanbul in 2018. And in 2019 I have been funded by the Israeli Science Foundation at Bar-Ilan University, in Tel Aviv.

My research has a distinctive interdisciplinary character. This is the result of a rich educational background, which trained me to dialogue with different cultures, to become a strategic thinker, and this enables me to understand diversified types of client’s business and arrive at insights that solve their challenges.

I am interested in exploring and conceptualizing design options and solutions that maintain a client’s vision and creative beliefs. I aim to establish and enforce the creative vision and scientific credibility within the creative community. My skills will be put at service to oversee creative output and ensure the delivery of innovative, brand-led, high calibre solutions for all clients. I am prepared to pitch reliable creative content and push different teams to find ‘big ideas’ based on design strategy and scientific trust.
