Profile Summary

I am both a scientific editor and a statistical seismologist specializing in probabilistic seismic hazard analysis. As an editor, I have edited more than 100 manuscripts across the life, earth, and environmental sciences - my forte is earth and environmental sciences. I particularly enjoy more detailed and advanced editing where I help clients communicate their research clearly in the appropriate structure and format (I can also help with journal formatting). As for my research, I have been active in the field of probabilistic seismic hazard analysis since 2011, and started contributing around 2014. I am particularly interested in the estimation of the Gutenberg-Richter relation and the estimation of its parameters: the b-value, and the maximum cutoff magnitude. I also have a solid background in the foundations of machines learning and have taken on some basic projects (read: I have a better understanding of the fundamentals than average), and I also have some exposure to data science. I am also interested in science communication, although I have not had much opportunity to practice formally. One of my "flexes" is that I have a good general knowledge and am brilliant at high-level thinking - I put the last cherry on top of this skill when I became an editor. Another is that I have a very rigorous quantitative background.
