Profile Summary

Pharmacist and Food Technologist with over seven years of research experience, from which the last six focused on the development of delivery systems applied to the pharmaceutical and food areas. I possess substantial expertise in formulation development, analytical methods, data and results interpretation, and laboratory routine. During my Master of Science in Pharmacy, I developed polymeric nanoparticles for topical application and performed its complete physicochemical characterisation, comprising DLS analyses, morphology, encapsulation efficiency, bioactive quantification, in-vitro release, among others. In the last four years, I worked under the framework of the European project EnhanceMicroAlgae- High added-value industrial opportunities for microalgae in the Atlantic Area, which involved the extraction of microalgae bioactive from different species, e.g., antioxidants, pigments, followed by their encapsulation into different delivery systems and their incorporation into innovative functional food products. I was also responsible for their characterisation through physicochemical, stability, rheological, and in vitro biological and digestion assays. Moreover, I have collaborated on different projects of my group, such as the development of nanoemulsions stabilised with plant-based proteins aiming to prepare mayonnaise with a clean label status, I participated in different outreach activities involving science communication and published and reviewed several scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals. Aside from my experience as a researcher, I have 2 years of experience as a pharmacist in commercial and compounding pharmacies, including the preparation of solid, semi-solid and liquid dosage forms (medicaments and cosmetics).
