Profile Summary

Hi! I am a researcher specializing in cancer genetics. Leveraging my life science academic research, biotechnology consulting, science writing projects, and 5 years of teaching, I am committed to create engaging and educational content for science communication. In my current PhD project, I am developing Malaysia’s first predictive genetic biomarker for non-small cell lung cancer patients undergoing platinum-based chemotherapy to guide clinical strategies in hospitals. My scientific career spans multi-disciplines such as analytical biochemistry (BSc(Hons) Medical Biochemistry), stem cell therapy research and commercialisation, and cell biology research on developmental disorders (MRes Translational Medicine). I have developed relevant science communication skills in industries when I pitched an acquisition investment proposal to the board of directors of a fictional biotechnology product development company in the international NW Biotech Consulting Competition 2019, and received the runner-up award. I felt empowered when my article- the “Rise of superbugs” published in the Planet Bee science magazine could raise awareness about the concerning global issue of antibiotic resistance.
