Profile Summary

Researcher with the expertise in cancer biology and a strong background of Genetics, Biochemistry and immunology. -My postdoctoral work was mainly associated with Radiation oncology where I studied mechanisms of radiation-induced normal tissue injury and its association with tumor growth and metastasis. We used mouse models to screen several drugs which can be used in combination therapy to protect from radiation injury. -My doctoral work was centered around a protein called IGFBP2. I studied several mechanisms of this protein by which it increases aggressiveness of a grade IV brain tumor (GBM). I also screened and purified a human single chain variable fragment (ScFV) that neutralizes the protumorigenic actions of IGFBP2 protein and hence has a potential therapeutic value. - Served as author on eight peer reviewed publications -was a speaker in departmental seminars as well as national and international conferences, delivering oral presentations as well as poster presentations -Mentored school teachers on basics in cancer biology, have guided students during their summer internship, shared experiences with juniors about best lab practices and troubleshooting experiments, helped students working in interdisciplinary programmes -Effectively collaborated with Pathologists and Technicians at a professional level to carry out the research work
