Profile Summary

I have successfully completed my Ph.D. in cancer genomics and molecular biology from UC Davis. I have a broad array of impactful scientific, technical, and business experiences. As a graduate student, I built a novel, high-throughput technique with next-generation sequencing to study DNA repair processes. The application of the technique led to the discovery of a novel cancer drug target and 4 peer-reviewed publications. I was also a translational oncology intern at Genentech, where my work led to an understanding of the mechanism of breast cancer drug resistance. Prior to my Ph.D., I have vast research experience in the UK and India, looking at translational repression mechanisms, anti-cancerous properties in plants, and immuno-oncology techniques. Thus, with 10 years of experience in life science research, in academia and industry, I will be able to provide valuable insights. These scientific skill sets are complemented by my leadership skills, business acumen, and product mindset developed during stints as the chief operating officer of X-Plant, as a biotech/pharma advisor to the investment team at Social Capital Fund, and as a consultant to biopharma companies at BCBA. While at Genentech, I also had a rare, golden opportunity to engage in portfolio strategy and clinical trial design.
