Profile Summary

As an award winning professional equipped with a Ph.D. in Biology, five years of microbiology, and biochemistry and immunology research experience, with three years of human immunology in T cell, macrophages, and dendritic cell in clinical bed-to-bench research accompanied by 4-years of experience in the murine smoking model and viral infections for exacerbation model of COPD. During my career, I have achieved success in my field through hard work, and by maintaining a goal-oriented mindset. Recently, my research efforts resulted in an infection model for P. aeruginosa in Cystic Fibrosis patients. I also spearheaded project start-up and protocol development for human tissue disaggregation, T cell immunophenotyping, and lung macrophage activation, resulting in two awards for high-quality work in COPD. As a post-doctoral fellow for Baylor College of Medicine, my duties included conducting various experiments and performing data analysis, and presenting grant applications. As a research fellow at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, I acquired expertise in murine exacerbation models of COPD using viral infections (BSL-3) and LPS, which produced several publications; I also wrote and applied for grants in a group effort and individually. Later, I set up a basic research lab obtained the protocol approvals for clinical research (IRB, IC) and basic research (BSL-1 and 2) at the Saint Elizabeth Hospital, and delivered classes for medical doctors interested in basic research techniques. Most recently for CIMeR I have advocated writing scientific publications for peer-review journals and did fieldwork to collect data for epidemiological research.
