His Consultancy projects/ experience include policy evaluation, DPR preparation, site investigation, quality control supervision in Projects of Irrigation/ conjunctive use, Drinking water, River flood and grounddwater modeling etc. As Project Director activities included Techno-Administration, Procurement, business development, technical input, and client interaction for more than 200 staff. Formerly Dr Rao was working as Scientist/ Hydrologist (18+yrs) at various levels with National Institute of Hydrology Roorkee India and published more than 100 articles/ books with nearly 500 citations in International journals (See Research gate). Dr Rao worked also briefly as Principal Engineer/ Senior Hydrologist and Modeller with DHI India (Danish Hydraulic Institute Denmark – Multinational Company) in several projects related to groundwater and surface water. Has worked with several international agencies such as UNDP, UNESCO, WORLD Bank funded projects.
