I am a Power Engineer and hold a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Power Engineering, with over 35 years of experience in teaching and research as a Full Professor at Universidad Simon Bolivar in Caracas, Venezuela. During my professional life I have shared my time between university academic activity and the exercise as a field engineer and entrepreneur, thus gathering an important experience in a wide range of topics, from building construction to electric distribution systems design and implementation.  As a professor, I teach pre and post graduate Power Engineering students topics such as power system dynamics and stability, and optimal design of distribution systems.  As an academic researcher, I have made a niche in the field of mathematical programming applied to the optimal design of medium and low voltage distribution systems, authoring (amongst other works) a couple of high impact papers with over 200 citations in the literature related to the topic. In the last years my scientific interests have shifted to the application of the concepts and principles of the dynamics of physical systems to problems in social sciences and economics and finance, such as the dynamics of commodities (oil, for example) markets and the assessment and performance of fiscal rules in public finance, applying non conventional modelling and simulation techniques to such problems, in a very rich and necessary interaction with social science and economics professionals and scientists.
