Profile Summary

Michael Dibiasio-White is an expert in the viral vector and infectious vector field. He has his Ph.D from Purdue University in Molecular Virology and his masters from Quinnipiac/Yale University in Molecular and Cellular Biology. With over 15 years of virology and molcular experience along with over 5 years of process experience for biologicis including AAV. He has been invited to both round tables and given talks at conferences focused on next generation technologies and analytic capabilities for viral vectors as well as advise on the current field of upsteam and downstream process science and where there are gaps that need to be addressed. During his time, he has worked on end to end vector design, production and purification for AAV and other ssDNA viral vectors specializing in desiging and implementing high quality processes that yield not only high producing vector but highly potentent vector. He has established workflows utilizing depth filtration, TFF, IEX (E/F seperation) HPLC based assays for biophysical evalution and characterization of AAV products as well. His latest work at Affinia is focused on building the process development team and establishing viral vector screening workflows and candidate selection crteria for manufacturability analysis while also coordianting with tech ops to evalute CDMOs and establish SOWs for intenral and external PD studies and tox lot and engineering lot productions.

Molecular virologist by training with extensive experience in analytical, molecular, and biochemical analysis of virus expression systems. I am skilled in understanding virus biology and applying this knowledge towards the design of optimal viral vector designs. In addition, I have taken this knowledge and applied it towards developing expertise in upstream and downstream viral vector process development including analytical/biophysical characterizations of purified vectors.

• 8+ years' experience in combined industry and academic settings in infectious virus (RNA virus and viral replicon development), viral vectors (AAV/others) and viral protein expression/purification as well as plasmid design and optimization for increased vector and viral protein yields (AKTA-FPLC chromatography systems) in BLS2+ environments.

• Expertise in manipulation of viral genetic systems and development of molecular and biochemical assays to investigate various segments of the viral lifecycle.

• Skilled in upstream production/expression,
purification and characterization of both enveloped and non-enveloped virus/vectors.

•Team leader with demonstrated success in leading highly visible cross functional teams and projects in the gene therapy arena.

• Demonstrated ability to discuss/present complex scientific ideas as evidenced by multiple oral presentations and coordinated multi-lab collaborations dealing with several projects simultaneously.
