I then worked here as a Project Manager and oversaw the entire editorial and production process of assigned journals—from the stage of acceptance of articles to their online and print publication—thus maintaining the overall health of journals. This also involved liaising with the authors and editors to streamline the overall work and bring out the publications in a timely manner. This honed my eye for minute details, improved my organizational and multi-tasking skills to manage multiple assignments successfully, and meet tight deadlines.
I am currently working for an international firm in the field of Science Communications and I am involved in editing manuscripts targeted for publication in biomedical and health science journals. The work involves thorough checking of all elements of a manuscript for language, grammar, proper sentence structure, and facts, along with rephrasing and providing suggestions to authors, thereby maintaining the author’s message. Meanwhile, I also got a few opportunities to showcase my writing abilities by writing case reports and research articles for ESL authors. Besides, working on manuscripts for an international journal honed my peer-review and content developmental skills as I was involved in working on raw manuscripts and carefully scrutinizing them for scientific content quality, and performing deep editing.
