Atmospheric Scientist & Systems Engineer with Research and Operational Experience in Government and Private Sector

Profile Summary

I am an atmospheric scientist with experience ranging from fundamental cutting edge research to real-time forecasting and nowcasting operations with a focus in the aviation and aerospace industries. For the past 8 years, I have worked for a private weather instrumentation company focusing on R&D for new products and projects ranging from component level engineering, to software development, and algorithm design for value-added meteorological products. I also certify the current product lines for shipment, and provide on-site installation and operator/meteorological training for customers. Previously, as a NASA Earth and Space Science Fellow, I worked with both spaceborne and ground-based instrumentation to evaluate atmospheric precursors to heavy rainfall events in tropical orographic regions as well as understand the relationship between snowfall microphysics and dual-polarization, dual-frequency radar retrievals in an effort to improve satellite-based surface snowfall rates. As a visiting scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, I collaborated with other scientists to analyze supercooled liquid characteristics and signatures as they relate to aircraft icing. On the operational side, I have worked as an operational forecaster and mission scientist for both warm and cold season flight operations ranging from NASA research field campaigns to weather modification activities. I have also collaborated with an interdisciplinary team to work toward the development of a flash flood severity index for use by the National Weather Service.
