Profile Summary

My research experience in the areas of mathematical modeling and cryptography is presented as follows. Mathematical modeling of the sugarcane borer-parasitoid agroecosystem. Chaotic behavior resulted from the seasonality of the model, and biological control was used to keep the pest population below the economic damage threshold. Mathematical modeling of the sugarcane borer-parasitoid agroecosystem, considering two parasitoids. Design of a novel chaotic encryption scheme with a software implementation that is 75 times faster than the previous literature standard and 353 times faster than the AES. Registration of the software implementation of the chaotic encryption scheme. Implementation of the chaotic encryption scheme into a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B device, increasing the throughput by 59% compared to the Ascon. Implementation of the chaotic encryption scheme into a CUDA-enabled GPU, increasing the throughput by 37% compared to the AES. Additionally, the throughput was 43 times higher compared to the previously best metric for chaotic ciphers on GPU. The VHDL description of a discrete-space chaotic map was realized, and its subsequent FPGA implementation showed a reduction of 91% in power consumption compared to the previous literature standard for chaotic systems. The maximum frequency was maintained from the literature standard, and the clock latency was reduced. The VHDL description was also realized for the chaotic encryption scheme, in which the discrete-space chaotic map served as one component of the cipher block. The power consumption at 0.19W was around double the Ascon’s power consumption, however the throughput was 28 times higher. Compared to the AES, throughput was increased by 59%, while power consumption was reduced by 98.7%. The security of the chaotic cipher was verified against the following attacks: statistical, differential, brute-force, chosen plain text, noise and occlusion.
