The incidence rate for days of poor physical health was 26% lower (p = 0.001) for those who provided care during the COVID-19 pandemic, though the incidence rates for days of poor mental health were not statistically different between groups. Informal caregivers with low educational attainment mostly experienced significantly higher IRRs for days of poor physical and mental health. Younger informal caregivers had a significantly lower IRR for days of poor physical health, but higher IRR for days of poor mental health.

CONFERENCE POSTER

The National Tobacco Use and Transitions Survey (NTTS, March 2020 through April 2022; N= 251,435) dataset was utilized. NTTS is a monthly repeated cross-sectional survey of the U.S. adult population, designed to collect information related to tobacco use behaviors across a broad range of tobacco product categories. Analyses investigated established regular cigarette smoking among established e-cigarette users (at least 100 lifetime uses; n = 5,661) compared to never e-cigarette users (not even once or twice; n = 198,655) .

This analysis examined adult data from the PATH study (Waves 1 through 4) to measure cigarette smoking cessation among baseline exclusive cigarette smokers compared to baseline dual users of cigarettes and e-cigarettes. Analyses applied a multi-state Markov chain model to project 1-year transition probabilities for up to 5 years, with a focus on cigarette abstinence in a subsequent wave .

In this work in progress session, we will describe our early steps in an ongoing college drinking prevention project, which have focused on eliciting decision-makers’ mental models and preferences for action – both individually, and after discussing their perspectives as a group within a single community .
