Profile Summary

As a master’s student in FIOCRUZ institution, I focused on the critical step of nucleotide-sugar transport to the Golgi apparatus for protein glycosylation. The results I obtained from that work culminated in my first author paper which has been used as base for future projects in the lab. During my doctoral training, I worked on the unique metabolic features of Trypanosoma cruzi and how those characteristics can be used to identify new drug targets. Additionally, my work received significant recognition from the scientific community which in turn conferred me an award during the Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society of Protozoology. Then, I chose to work with T. gondii. As postdoctoral, I obtained important results about a critical step in Toxoplasma replication which resulted in my first author paper entitled “Toxoplasma F-box 1 Protein 1 is Required for Daughter Cell Scaffold Function During Parasite Replication”. Additionally, I am a co-author of several papers that are in submission process. I also received the Microbiology and Immunology Fellowship Award in Memory of Felix Milgrom, MD which recognizes excellence in a postdoctoral fellow`s training record. I am well versed in creating graphic abstracts and figures for publications, presentations and websites. I have experience in reviewing scientific papers in parasitology and infectious diseases. My ultimate goal is to provide a well created, written and reviewed work that communicates the main ideas in a clear and unambiguous way.
