Profile Summary

I am a career scientist in cancer biology. After completing my doctoral studies at the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute in Kolkata, I worked at the Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia in cell biology. I then spent a year at the mass spectrometry facility at the University of Manchester. On my return to India, I worked as part of the team which conceptualised and built the Tata Translational Cancer Research Centre where I designed and established the cell culture and mass spectrometry facility. In 2019, I trained at the University of Cambridge in developing cancer specific organoids and led the development of gallbladder organoid program at TTCRC. For this, I established a multidisciplinary team to collect samples and developed the laboratory processes to generate organoids. Students trained by me in the organoid laboratory have moved to prestigious doctoral programs at international universities. At TTCRC along with leading my group, I have been part of the senior management team which oversees day to day function of the centre as well as developing future goals. In short, I have a wide range of expertise in cell and molecular biology and data analyses. I am adept at delivering solutions and training others to do likewise. I work well independently and within a team and my particular skill is in dissecting and solving problems, in the laboratory and in administration.
