Profile Summary

I am an Assistant Professor of Corporate Communication at a research university, with training in communication, language and social interaction, and health communication. My research examines human interaction across institutional, organizational, and digital contexts using mixed qualitative methods, with a primary emphasis on conversation analysis. I specialize in the analysis of naturally occurring interaction, including recorded clinical encounters, workplace communication, and social media–based interactions, to understand how participants accomplish social actions such as decision-making, expertise negotiation, resistance, alignment, and accountability in real time.

My ongoing research projects include conversation-analytic studies of medical encounters (with particular attention to the role of patients’ family members and companions), interactional analyses of vaccine hesitancy in online settings, and organizational communication research focused on internal coordination, change communication, and professional practice. Across projects, I combine fine-grained interactional analysis with complementary qualitative approaches such as thematic analysis and discourse analysis, depending on research questions and data characteristics.

I have extensive experience designing qualitative studies, advising on data collection and transcription protocols, developing analytic frameworks, and translating qualitative findings for academic, applied, and interdisciplinary audiences. I regularly work with interview data, audio- and video-recorded interaction, and large qualitative datasets, and I am familiar with qualitative analysis software such as NVivo, while prioritizing analytic rigor over tool-driven coding. In addition to research, I have taught and supervised undergraduate and honors research projects, designed writing-intensive and career-oriented curricula, and collaborated with interdisciplinary teams in health, organizational, and applied research settings.
