Profile Summary

I am a plant biologist working as Post Doctoral Fellow at National Institute of Plant Genome Research (NIPGR), New Delhi, India . My research area includes biotic and abiotic stresses, functional genomics, molecular breeding and genetic transformation in plants. After completion of my Masters in Biotechnology, I enter the field of research with the sole aim of becoming a researcher. So, I have started to pursue Ph.D. Bioscience at Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Chhattisgarh, India, where I was trained as a biologist. Further, I worked with Dr. T.J. Higgins, Plant Industry, CSIRO, Australia as visiting scientist, where I broaden my expertise in Helicoverpa armigera resistance genetic transformation in chickpea. During my postdoctoral training at ICGEB, New Delhi India ; I worked on Indo-Australian funded Project “Discovery and manipulation of miRNA involve in high temperature and salt of rice plants”. This project developed my skill in functional genomics and I identified conserved and novel miRNAs in response to high temperature and salt stress in rice. Some of these miRNAs were over-expressed in rice through Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Presently I am investigating transcriptome and miRNAs analysis in chickpea under abiotic stress (cold and drought). Moreover, I also involve in translatome and polysome profiling in chickpea seed development and nodulation that insight expressing genes levels more accurately compare to the transcriptome. Additionally, I also support genetic transformation of chickpea with various genes to functional validation. Together these reverse genetic approaches aim at increasing the economical and nutritional quality of Indian chickpea.
