Profile Summary

My name is Valentina Ramundi, and I am currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Metabolomics and Proteomics Core Facility at Helmholtz Munich. My work focuses on untargeted and targeted metabolomics, using high-resolution mass spectrometry platforms such as the Q-Exactive and ZenoTOF, combined with UHPLC separation. I am deeply involved in sample preparation, spectral acquisition, and annotation, as well as data processing and interpretation using tools like MZmine, GNPS, SIRIUS, and MetaboAnalyst. During my postdoc, I have contributed to collaborative international projects and workshops, including the EU-funded BIACEM project, where I trained users in metabolomics data analysis software. I have also presented my research at international conferences, including the Analytica Conference in Munich and the Workshop for Computational Mass Spectrometry in Prague. My PhD, completed at Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, focused on exploring the phytochemical diversity of wild edible plants using untargeted metabolomics. During this time, I developed workflows for molecular networking and metabolite annotation, bridging traditional knowledge of plant compounds with modern analytical chemistry. I also spent part of my PhD as a visiting researcher at Wageningen University, where I expanded my expertise in computational metabolomics and natural product characterization. I hold a Master’s degree in Pharmacy from La Sapienza University, and I am a licensed pharmacist. I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Sport and Movement Science, which gives me a broad scientific perspective. Overall, my experience combines hands-on mass spectrometry, data analysis, method development, and user support. I am passionate about translating complex LC-MS data into actionable biological insights and enjoy collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality metabolomics data.
