Profile Summary

I have specialization in Ecology and have worked in research projects from 1981-1989. From 1990-2018, I worked as Scientist in the MoEFCC, to perform the job of environmental monitoring and appraisal of projects of the country. My notable contributions are establishing pilot projects for Acid Mine Discharge treatment in Coal mines and developing a chemical profile inventory in NE region, A manual for Biodiversity Assessment, Ecorestoration technology transplantation programme for mining degraded areas, R&D efforts to solve the issues for resource use efficiency and developing a protocol for categorization of environmental safeguards and preparing a country level report I guided seven Ph. D. and several M Sc students for their dissertation and thesis and published more than 120 research and review papers. My special research interest is in conservation biology and Ecology and Ecology of protected areas. I am Fellow of International Society for Tropical Ecology (FTE) and National Institute of Ecology (FNIE) and have received “Environmental Conservation Awareness Award” from His Excellency Hon’ble Governor of Odisha on 30th October, 2007. IME Journal and Society for Geoscientists & Allied Technologists (SGAT), Odisha awarded me with Life Time Achievement Award. SGAT Odisha also felicitated me for my work on Environmental Conservation and Management.
