Profile Summary

I am an engineer with over 10 years of combined research and consulting experience in fire and life safety engineering, with a particular focus on underground works and tunnel safety. I hold a PhD in safety engineering in NTUA, and my work bridges scientific research with applied, real-world safety engineering for complex infrastructure projects. My core expertise covers fire dynamics simulation (FDS), evacuation and pedestrian flow modeling, and CFD-based smoke/hazard analysis, which I use to assess and improve safety design in tunnels, underground stations, and other confined or other structures. I have also worked with hazardous material dispersion modeling tools (e.g. ALOHA) to support risk assessment in industrial and infrastructure contexts. Beyond simulation, I bring a strong technical background in 3D modeling/animation and Virtual Reality development (Unreal Engine), which I have applied to build immersive evacuation training tools and visualization platforms — translating complex safety scenarios into interactive, accessible formats for training, stakeholder communication, and design validation. My project experience spans both academic/research settings and applied technical consulting for engineering studies, working on underground infrastructure and life-safety assessments for major projects. I have also developed automation and electromechanical systems, including custom microcontroller-based (Arduino) simulators and instrumentation for research and testing purposes.
