Turned around businesses in more than six states during the tenure. Won numerous large contracts in both private and government sector, including India’s largest financial connectivity project from Reserve Bank of India. Coached and mentored more than hundred employees. While in HR revised many policies to bring in the much-required Employee Friendly environment. Removed the Bell-Curve policy and brought in flexibility by empowering Business Heads to carry out their individual initiatives, while maintaining the organisational goals. Worked as Country Manager for Ascom India, a Swiss telecom group company, was responsible as country head for Telecommunication products, setting up the entire division right from scratch – identifying products for direct and indirect channel business wherein establishing in-house policies for stringent customer support systems. The main area of business focus was in the corporate, large scale tenders from both private and government telecom operators, providing complete solutions to customers. Successfully pushed big names like Philips and Siemens out of the market for ISDN products with aggressive marketing. Maintaining a nation-wide service support infrastructure. I reported to the Business Head in Europe directly. The first five years of my career were with Informatics Computer Systems, an organisation involved in imparting training in computer software programming. During this tenure had the distinction of launching eight branch offices. In 1991, I had the opportunity of setting up an indirect business channel with Hamilton Research & Technology, a company involved in manufacturing of microprocessor-based service automation and data processing products. That {Indirect sales channel} came as a challenge as it was the first time the company was setting up such a channel as well. I was given the responsibility of exploring the channel business in North India and achieved appreciable sales through the channel. I then moved on to Microland, a leading network systems integration company, to set up its channel business in northern India. I was given the responsibility of setting up the complete operations in the North, right from identifying products, to appointing channel partners as well as formulating the distribution and service support policy for the company. I established a dealer and service support network spanning five states and had a very successful tenure, contributing on an average of more than 50% of the national sales. In 1995 joined Advantec Network Systems, a Bombay based company, sole representative of AT&T structured cabling and a pure distribution organisation. Set up regional offices in Delhi and Calcutta and subsequently the channel network in both North and East India. Here the task was to first sell the concept of structured cabling and then establish channel partners. Six months of dedicated efforts in educating the customer and providing complete technical and commercial support to the partners led to a market acceptance of the product and the channel business was set up. On my personal initiative and pursuance with the management, other active networking components were added from different international manufacturers and offered to the channel. I had the additional responsibility of interfacing with our Israeli principal (RAD Group) for various networking devices.
