Profile Summary

I am a scientist specialized in characterization of nano-structured materials using powder X-ray diffraction. I have expertise especially in materials showing stacking disorder. This includes stacking faults (twin/deformation faults), polytype interlayering (mixed layer minerals, zeolites), and layered materials (exfoliated nanosheets, turbostratic/grahite-like materials such as graphene). I am proficient in TOPAS, Diffax, and other tools of this type, and have developed my own software extending the functionality of such tools. This software is capable of providing quantitative information on planar defect content and crystallite size/size distribution in nano-structured materials. I have extensive experience preparing atomistic models and the application of the Debye scattering equation to large ensembles of crystallites. I also have significant experience with rapid development of physical models for complex systems. I am capable of working in a team and independently, and enjoy new and exciting challenges.
