Profile Summary

Greetings, and welcome! I am Dr Abu Saleh Mohammad Rafi, PhD, a Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Groningen and Associate Professor of Linguistics at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh. I am also a Senior Research Fellow on an Australian Research Council-funded project on early language learning. My research spans applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, translanguaging, and critical AI studies, with a focus on decolonising language education and promoting equity in multilingual societies. I have published widely on translanguaging pedagogies, co-edited two international volumes on linguistic justice, and delivered keynotes and invited talks at institutions including the University of Witwatersrand, McGill University, China Three Gorges University, and James Cook University. Combining traditional grounding in English and cultural studies with a critical and transdisciplinary perspective, I bring scholarly rigour and contemporary insight to all projects. I offer expertise in: a. Applied linguistics, sociolinguistics, TESOL, and EFL contexts. b. Academic writing, research design, and publication in Q1 journals. c. Integrating technology and AI in language learning research. d. Qualitative research, discourse analysis, and sociolinguistic inquiry. e.
