Profile Summary

As a teenager, I fell in love with Elijah Anderson's Ethnographic books, studies, and work. "Code of the Streets" was the book that introduced me to the field of Ethnography at 16 years old. Two years later, I began to work in the human services field at the YMCA in 2011 as a childcare provider. I then became a mentor and tutor at The Salvation Army working with historically resource-deprived students for four years, while obtaining my Associate in Applied Science Human Services Technology degree. During this time, I was also a Youth Advocate for the Youth Advocate Program. I worked with children with behavioral health challenges, mental health challenges, and criminal records. In this position I applied my knowledge of interviewing, observing, case studying, case noting, and presenting findings. In 2021 I obtained my Bachelor of Arts in Black Studies degree concentrating in Urban Ethnography and African Diasporic history. I have been a Freelance Ethnographer for the Black Food Sovereignty Coalition for almost two years consulting, conducting interviews, thesis building, grant writing assistance, transcribing, and much more. I love melanated culture and ethnography so I would love to bring your project to life as an Ethnographer and Researcher (amongst the many other hats that I wear).
