Profile Summary

I am a globally experienced Environmental and Metallurgical Scientist with over 35 years of expertise in waste treatment, metals recovery, organic waste to products, environmental remediation, and sustainable resource management. My work integrates advanced environmental chemistry with scalable, industry-relevant solutions and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). My research focuses on heavy metal removal from wastewater, recovery of valuable metals from industrial organic waste streams, and sustainable treatment systems suited to emerging and resource-constrained environments. I have supervised numerous postgraduate and doctoral projects and contributed to applied research addressing industrial effluent treatment, pollution control, and environmental risk assessment. Beyond research, I have extensive experience in translating scientific innovation into implementation. I have led university–industry collaboration platforms, structured commercialization pathways, and advised on wastewater management and remediation strategies for industrial stakeholders. As a former Vice Chancellor and senior academic leader, I bring strong capabilities in strategic planning, grant development, institutional capacity building, quality assurance, and international collaboration. I have worked with global partners across the UK, USA, China, and Europe, and have contributed to multi-institutional research and development initiatives.
