Mr Muhammed Shafi S is a research scholar in the Department of Philosophy at the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kerala, from 2020 onwards. He previously worked as a guest lecturer in Art history and aesthetics at the Department of Painting at the Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kerala, from 2016 to 2019. He graduated in Visual Media and Mass Communication from Mar Ivanios College, Kerala University, in 2012. Later, he completed Master of visual arts in Art history and aesthetics at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, in 2015. He received Junior research fellowship from the University Grants Commission of India to pursue full-time research in 2018 and a previous Junior fellowship from the Cultural Ministry of India for the project titled 'Vak In Indian Philosophy And Logos In Western Philosophy- Philosophy of Language by Jacque Derrida and Abhinava Gupta: A Comparative Study' on 2019. His research focuses on aesthetics and subjectivity with an interdisciplinary focus on art history and philosophy of art. His ongoing thesis is titled 'Understanding Queerness in Art in the Light of Judith Butler's Notion of Performativity'.
