Profile Summary

My education (BSc, MRes and MPhil) and my training as a part-qualified actuary together with my experience give me strong managerial, technical and analytical skills to deliver high quality support to the development of analytical projects. During my research for the MPhil degree, I used two English national longitudinal datasets to carry out four original analyses of disability dynamics at older age, and the effect of chronic conditions on the onset of disability and the need for care. I have used STATA to estimate survival and panel regression models. My passion is to explore new details on the interaction between longevity and disability. I continued this passion beyond the degree, and I have four talks this year • the Protection, Health and Care conference 2018 in Brighton, • the International Congress of Actuaries 2018 in Berlin • the Mortality and Longevity Seminar 2018 in the Royal College of Physicians (London), and • the Life conference 2018 in Liverpool For the four talks, I used two English national longitudinal datasets to estimate generalised linear models (GLMs) to model the complex nature of disability at older age, and to estimate models for transitions between disability states. For my MRes degree, I used Willkie and Porteus-Tapadar models to simulate economic market conditions for a firm that sells Equity Guaranteed Bonds, and estimate Economic Capital over multiple years. I have presented the results in the Insurance Mathematics and Economics conference 2012. Over the last three years, I have been working in the Finance directorate of NHS England as an analyst. During those years, I have worked on several projects using statistical and analytical skills, and demonstrated my project management and team working skills. • I currently use SQL and Tableau to establish metrics of data quality and completeness, and provide support to clinicians and analysts from 11 pilot sights to improve their data submissions. Moreover, I use the data collected to review the bases of pricing of the children and young people mental health services. • I supported a colleague in using R to estimate the GP funding formula components, by running a regression analysis on national data. Moreover, I was solely responsible for carrying out supplementary analysis the implementation of the formula. I have also worked with the quality assurance team on reconciliation of the implementation of the new formula. • I provide continuous ad-hoc analytical support to the finance colleagues, and I delivered three papers on analysis, using STATA, to the CFO of NHS England. • I managed an analyst colleague to carry out a comprehensive literature review, and developed influence diagrams that are currently used as a guide in shaping analytical requests from NHS England CFO. I am currently a member of two working parties of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries: Products Research Group - Long-Term Care Working Party (PRG) and Modelling, Analytics and Insights from Data (MAID). In the PRG, I am leading the scoping of national data on care home use, and I am involved in completion of the technical guidance on the PRG modelling of the working party paper on impact of the Dilnot cap on incentive to save for care home costs. To sum up, I have imbibed the qualities of listening, presenting to stakeholders, detail-orientation, management of stakeholder expectation, negotiation skills and likewise. I consider myself a confident and positive person with a judicious blend of technical and soft skills.
