Profile Summary

I'm a native Dutch scientist working in the infection control team at NHS Scotland. In my current job as advanced healthcare scientist in the infection control team I am summarising available literature and developing guidelines for NHS Scotland hospitals to prevent transmission of infectious diseases. I also have experience in an NHS England hospital lab performing diagnostic tests and infectious disease (mycology) research. Previously I have worked in medical communications including medical writing and education. During my PhD, I have tutored A-level students and University undergraduates in molecular biology, microbiology, mycology, forensic science and genetic engineering. I hold a BSc in Microbiology (Leiden University, the Netherlands), a MSc in Science communication and Molecular Biology (Leiden University, the Netherlands) and a PhD in Molecular Biology (University of Manchester, UK).
