Profile Summary

I am a social epidemiologist whose research focuses on the role of immigration policies (e.g., deportations, parental deportations) in shaping health inequities among Latino populations as it relates to substance use, mental health and use of health services. I received my Ph.D. in Public Health (Global Health) from UC San Diego and my Master in Public Health from UC Berkeley. In addition to my research, I have a strong record of peer-reviewed publications and experience writing and securing grant funding (including NIH-style proposals). I also have experience translating research into practice through policy-relevant work, community partnerships, and dissemination to diverse audiences. My skill set includes: Quantitative data analysis (Stata) and interpretation of complex datasets Qualitative research design, data collection, and thematic analysis Grant writing and project management Scientific writing and publication Community-engaged and equity-focused research approaches I am particularly interested in opportunities that allow me to apply my research expertise in applied, policy, or consulting settings, and to contribute to work that advances health equity and improves population health outcomes.
