His current primary research interests lie in 1) neurodivergence and learning, 2) the application of neuroscience, specifically neuropsychology and neuroplasticity, in combination with technology and a humanist 'whole-person' approach in learning and development, and 3) digital innovation to address challenges in equity and social justice in education and educational psychology. In addition, Mick is a seasoned academic editor in the social and pure sciences with over 19 years of experience. He has edited manuscripts in fields including computer science, AI, medicine, neuroscience, psychology, sociology, engineering, physics, and biochemistry, and serves as a reviewer for SAJS and ASSAf. In industry, Mick has co-founded and managed a medical college for a specialist diabetes healthcare company, headed the Learning Design department of a global Ed-Tech company, and consulted extensively on a private basis as an ed-tech, education, and neurodivergence subject matter expert. He has over 5 years experience in scaling Ed-Tech start-ups internationally via partnerships with tertiary education institutions, and has also worked extensively with the UK Department for Education and OFSTED. Mick is also the founder and Chief Innovation Officer of a company applying neuropsychoeducation in personal and professional learning & development.
