Profile Summary

I am a Postdoctoral Research Scientist and Principal Investigator with over a decade of experience in aquaculture nutrition, sustainable aquafeed development, and fish production systems. I hold a PhD in Aquaculture from Tamil Nadu Fisheries University, India, and currently lead the FASA Aquafeed Programme at icipe (International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology), Nairobi, Kenya — a NORAD-funded initiative developing insect-based and alternative protein aquafeed systems for smallholder aquaculture across Sub-Saharan Africa, implemented in partnership with WorldFish. Research & Technical Expertise My core expertise spans fish and shrimp nutrition, alternative and novel feed ingredient evaluation, feed formulation, proximate and amino acid analysis, anti-nutritional factor reduction, and recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). I have hands-on experience with Black Soldier Fly Larvae (BSFL), mealworm, cricket, and plant-based protein meals as fishmeal replacements, including ingredient processing techniques such as solid-state fermentation, phytase enzyme treatment, defatting, and heat treatment. I have conducted feeding trials across multiple species including Nile tilapia, African catfish, and Pacific white shrimp. Publications, Patents & Recognition I have authored 20+ peer-reviewed publications, seven books with CRC Press and Elsevier, and hold six patents. I serve on the Editorial Advisory Board of Aquaculture Research (Wiley) and have active collaborations with BASF and Kemin. I completed advanced RAS training under Prof. Michael Ben Timmons at Cornell University.
