Profile Summary

I started my career as a Veterinarian and became aware of the need to address antibiotic resistance and synthetic methods preservations against pathogens. I concentrated on antibiotic resistance, microbial, and parasite epidemiological studies. After my move to the U.S, I continued my research training as a post-doctoral scholar at the University of California Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine. I continued to study natural antimicrobials against pathogenic microorganisms. This work has led to several peer-reviewed journals (some attracting more than 1000 citations in the last nine years). During my tenure at UC Davis, I became very interested in advanced molecular genotypic and phenotypic characterizations of bacteria and clinical Studies, epidemiology of the disease, and molecular/genetics aspects of illness. These interests led me to pursue a Masters's in Preventive Veterinary Medicine and a Ph.D. in Nanoscience. I have specific training and experience writing and submitting clinical research grants in NIH format, experimental design. I have also been CITI certified, certified for animal research studies and interpretation of high throughput next-generation DNA sequencing techniques (MiSeq, TruSeq), bioinformatics, and computational biology for the human gut Microbiome. I have successfully applied as a PI in NIH-based grant application for American Gastroenterology Association (AGA) in 2018 and Co-PI on several universities and NSF-funded grants.  I have directly involved in experimental design (advanced phenotype and genotype characterization), writing assignments, developing projects, conducting experiments, statistical data analysis in several scientific publications, clinical research, and food science-based project.  I have been a lab manager for over five years at the University of North Carolina and North Carolina State University labs. I have also trained junior investigators, students, and research staff in various techniques. I have been recognized nationally for my teaching skills and passion for undergraduate students by National Science Foundation Award in the College innovation challenge competition (2016 & 2018 Washington DC.). I have been working as Research Scientist at the Brentwood Biomedical Research Institute (BBRI) and private Clinics in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.  My focus was on understanding the human gut microbiome system and interactions, particularly the Microbiome interaction with the immune system before and after exposure to antibiotics and human parasites. My recent project as a Scientific consultant with Progena/Biome Medical Research Institute.
