Profile Summary

I started my journey in the pharmaceutical industry in 2015, right after my Master's graduation, as a synthetic chemist in a small Italian company called Bioindustria LIM. After a couple of years, I moved to Germany to pursue my PhD at the Max Planck Institute of Colloids and Interfaces (Potsdam), in the department of Professor Seeberger. There I had the opportunity to work on the newest technologies for synthetic chemistry, focusing my research on automated synthesis and continuous flow systems. In 2021 I successfully defended my PhD and I started working for Bright Path Laboratories (BPL), a US-based CDMO that operates in the pharmaceutical sector and exploits an innovative synthetic platform based on continuous flow technologies to produce active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and other small molecules of pharmaceutical interest. I was initially hired as 'Flow Chemistry Specialist' in the R&D group and then promoted to 'Lead R&D chemist' in January 2023. My main tasks in this role are: designing innovative synthetic routes for molecules of pharmaceutical interest exploiting continuous flow systems, identifying and reviewing promising scientific developments and integrating them in the company's processes, supervising and coordinating research and development projects, establishing and developing relationships with potential collaborators and suppliers. Being BPL a small company, people are often required to wear multiple hats so, besides my work in the R&D team, I have had the opportunity to cover many other roles through the years. I have worked as project manager, supported the production department and the business development team, written grant applications, presented in front of clients, collaborators and investors, and represented the company at conferences. I have experience writing all kinds of scientific publications (research articles, communications, review articles, and a book chapter), and I have presented in front of all kinds of audiences (scientists, businessmen, students, and others). I am a team player and I love to connect with other people, I am keen to build good and profitable relationships with my colleagues inside and outside the work environment and I am always willing to learn new things and motivated to improve myself. I am currently based in Italy and, in order to be able to work remotely in the United States, I am registered as self-employed. My contract with BPL is a consulting agreement that leaves me the freedom to accept other jobs, if compatible with my work schedule.
