Profile Summary

I am a biotechnology researcher with a strong foundation in microbiology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics, complemented by hands-on experience in managing and executing research projects. My expertise spans diverse areas, including the development of antimicrobial solutions, bacteriophage-based therapies, and metagenomic data analysis. Current Research: Principal Investigator in the ongoing CMRG student project titled “Anticariogenic Mouthwash for Improved Oral Hygiene: A promising alternative to antimicrobials-based mouthrinse” ([CMRG2023BBT05036]). This three-year project focuses on developing innovative oral hygiene solutions to combat microbial infections and improve dental care. Professional Experience: Lab Assistant (1 Year): Contributed to the project “Identification of potential drug target(s) in Streptococcus mutans: an essential step for developing improved dental care products,” funded by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). My work involved identifying and validating drug targets to aid in dental care product development. Project Fellow (2 Years): Worked on the DST-SERB-EEQ-funded project “Refocusing Nature’s destroyer of bacteria – Phages and their lysins as promising therapy against infections associated with ESKAPE pathogens,” under the guidance of Dr. S. Gowrishankar at Alagappa University. My role included exploring bacteriophage lysins as therapeutic agents and studying their efficacy against multidrug-resistant pathogens. M.Sc. Dissertation: Conducted research on “Formulation development, in vitro efficacy evaluation, and in vivo toxicity analysis of antiinfective dentifrices” under the guidance of Dr. S. Karutha Pandian. This work focused on developing and testing dentifrice formulations with antimicrobial properties. Technical Expertise Microbiology: Comprehensive research experience in microbial characterization and antimicrobial studies. Molecular Cloning: Skilled in various molecular cloning techniques for gene manipulation and expression. Protein Expression & Purification: Proficient in protocols for overexpression, purification, and functional analysis of proteins. Bioinformatics: Hands-on experience in analyzing 16S metagenome sequencing, whole genome sequencing, and RNA sequencing data. Omics Data Analysis: Expertise in genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics data interpretation, providing insights into microbial systems and host-pathogen interactions.
