Profile Summary

Proof-reader and editor of scientific manuscripts with a PhD and post-doctoral experience in Materials Chemistry. My most recent role was as a Post-doctoral Research Associate at the University of Glasgow working in partnership with Sonichem characterising and functionalising their lignin. My PhD specialised in controlling the properties of peptide-based supramolecular hydrogels through the preparation of multicomponent systems. The work from my PhD research resulted in three first author peer-reviewed articles as well as contributions to the data acquisition and drafting of several other articles through academic collaborations. My PhD thesis was awarded the British Society of Rheology’s Vernon Harris Award. I have written successful proposals for several grants and for multiple beam times at Diamond Light Source and ISIS Neutron and Muon Source. I also serve as a thesis mentor and have supervised and tutored numerous undergraduate and postgraduate students. I hold a First-Class Honours MSc degree in Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry with courses covering Organic, Medicinal, Physical and Inorganic Chemistry as well as Biochemistry, Immunology, Genetics, and Cells and Tissues. During my undergraduate degree, I completed an industrial placement year working in DIAGEO's Packaging Design and Technology Team where I gained experience generating and testing SOPs.
