Profile Summary

I earned my PhD in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh, and then a respecialization in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate University. I then completed a predoctoral internship at Green Chimneys residential treatment program for children in New York. I worked at the Yale University Child Study Center as an Associate Research Scientist (where I routinely advised the laboratory members on multivariate statistics), and then at the University of Houston as a Clinical Associate Professor. At both universities, I conducted research on reading, language, and developmental disorders and ran assessment clinics for children, adolescents, and young adults. I currently work as a Clinical Psychologist at Olympic Psychology Services; I am also a co-investigator on an NICHD P20 grant (clinical trial), responsible for a novel mixed-media (person-to-person plus person-to-computer) reading intervention provided to students in a post-adjudication facility in Houston. I strongly believe in evidence-based approaches, and have a broad skillset that includes cognitive and clinical psychology, study design methodology, descriptive and inferential statistics, supervised and unsupervised machine learning approaches, and advanced methods like item response theory and structural equation modeling. I enjoy writing and editing academic, technical, and medical texts, including study and clinical reports, and hanging out with my cat. I have a substantial expertise in conducting interdisciplinary research that bridges clinical science, developmental science, and biostatistics. Throughout my career, I have contributed to the conceptualization and execution of many studies across the world (from US to Russia to Zambia) and analyzed and published on dozens of datasets that included behavioral, clinical, neuroimaging, and molecular genetic data. I have also developed numerous cognitive assessments in English, Russian, Spanish, and Arabic as well as Zambian dialects, and developed unique comprehensive interventions for adolescents who are struggling in the social as well as academic domains. I have published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, cited over 3,600 times for a total citation index of i10=23 (Google Scholar). I am proficient in multiple types of statistical analysis, including inferential statistics and machine learning, natural language processing and content analysis / topic modeling, survival and longitudinal data analysis, research synthesis and meta-analysis, neuroimaging and biomarker data analysis.
