Profile Summary

I’m biologist and PhD in Medical Clinic (Basic Sciences). Scientist trained in the health field, performing studies with autoimmune diseases, obesity and diabetes. I’m a professional with great experience also in teaching Biology and related subjects. My degree in Biology brought an overview of human health, with laboratory correlations. During this period I was able to participate in national congresses and show my first scientific works. I I was studying neuroimmunology, specifically multiple sclerosis. After that, I developed my entire post-graduation (Master’s and PhD) investigating the cellular abnormalities that occur in organs and tissues during obesity and diabetes, especially the altered mechanisms of cell signaling in brain, with a focus on the altered functioning of the hypothalamus (inflammation, apoptosis, etc). The beginning of my scientific career and studies in the master's degree were extremely important for my training. Participation in national and international congresses, and my first scientific article made me grow personally and professionally. During my PhD, several collaborations with colleagues in the group and others were carried out, increasing my knowledge in the area of obesity and diabetes, participating in studies with approaches to nutrition and physical activity (in addition to immunology and endocrinology). This enabled me to publish scientific articles, present papers at international congresses and receive awards for scientific excellence. During all these years of research, I developed the following skills: Animal care and handling (rats/mice) • Cell culture • Antibodies quantification (ELISA) • Protein Analysis by Western Blotting • Histological Analysis: Immunohistochemistry / Immunofluorescence • Real Time – PCR • Preparation and supervision of scientific projects and reports • Bibliographic Survey in indexed international journals.
