Profile Summary

I am a holder of Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography from Moi University, Kenya (2010). I am currently working  as a GIS Expert for four(4) years previously as Assistant M&E and GIS officer for four (4) years.

As the Lead GIS Expert , I coordinate GIS agenda in the institution. Additionally, I regularly advise various departments on GIS related projects, appropriate methodology to adopt, and generate reports to inform decision making and improve service delivery. I also ensure that all the  geodatabase is stored properly and updated frequently. The datasets for all departments are stored in separate file geodatabase 
I have hands-on experience in using various GIS tools e.g., assembling data from various sources such as satellite imagery, aerial photographs, existing maps ,field data collection by using GPS and real time data collection applications. I have been able to convert data from various sources into the required formats majorly shapefiles and Keyhole markup Language(KML) formats for analysis in the GIS softwares and generate maps, develop reports and communicating the results to relevant stakeholders for decision making. 
In my current position, I have been able to do various  projects including, establishment of a Geoportal, mapping of business premises, mapping and digitizing road network , Mapping parking lots, distribution and status of all health facilities , Mapping of wetlands and dams for tourism and wildlife conservation, Telemedicine  project for mapping out existing and proposed mast and radio links connection points with consideration on  the elevation and topography of the various health facilities’ locations.

I have participated in various local and international meetings/workshops.   I participated in a two (2) months training on Advance Spatial Technology for Urban Planning and Management held in NITTTR, Chennai India. During this training, I attended an International Conference on ‘Innovations in Science, Technology and Management Towards Sustainability ‘where I presented on ‘GIS Based Model for Optimal locations of Dustbins.'

I possess strong problem solving skills and excellent communication skills in English (both written and oral). I am competent in working with GIS software such as ArcGIS and QGIS.
