I have been an environmental scientist contributing to projects around the world for about 30 years.

Profile Summary

I am an environmental scientist and ecologist working on conservation and development projects, particularly for coastal and marine habitat assessment and restoration, and to promote sustainable use and re-use of water resources. I am available for remote assignments, such as proposal and grant writing, desktop research/studies, program-specific environmental monitoring and assessment program design, environmental data analysis and summary, or technical writing or editing on topics within my work experience. I am also available for on-location assignments worldwide, such as fieldwork (as site manager or technician), local stakeholder engagement and trainings, or presentations. My experience falls into three broad categories: (1) design, management, and assessment of conservation and restoration projects, (2) planning for conservation and sustainable development, and (3) the ability to work with colleagues and lead teams from many cultures and countries around the world, particularly in remote settings. In 2016, I started Current Ecological, Ltd. consultancy to combine my experience in the conservation of natural resources with the principles and practice of sustainable development. I have worked on environmental projects under UN oversight, and have been a member of the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management (West Asia) since 2017. Since 2020, I have been involved in projects located in the USA, the North Sea, and the Middle East, and have traveled around the Mediterranean, north Africa, and northwestern Mexico. From 2009 through 2019, my most significant work included design and technical management of large-scale coastal habitat restoration projects in the Arabian Gulf, and representing environmental conservation and sustainable development goals for the master planning phase and asset-level development projects in sensitive habitats on the Red Sea. Before 2009, I worked in Florida and the southeastern USA on coastal and nearshore marine habitat monitoring and assessment projects. I have also made professional visits to the North Slope of Alaska, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Madagascar and Mauritius.
