Profile Summary

Janete Quelhas-Santos graduated in Biology at University of Aveiro in 2005. In 2006 she joined the Nephrology Research and Development Unit (UIDN) from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, as a research fellow, and since then she has been working in the research line titled “Assessment of neurohumoral activation in chronic kidney disease: role of sympathetic, dopaminergic and natriuretic peptide systems”. In 2008 she concluded a post-graduation course in Molecular Oncology and Medicine at Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto. In 2013, she finished her PhD in Biomedicine at the Faculty of Medicine of University of Porto with a thesis titled: "Contribution to the study of renalase in chronic kidney disease". Presently, she is carrying out her post-doctoral studies at the Nephrology and Infectious Diseases Research and Development Group, INEB-(I3S). She is enrolled in the research of novel biomarkers to assess endothelial dysfunction, with clinical importance in chronic kidney disease and that may aid in directing therapy to preserve a healthy endothelium and reduce cardiovascular risk.
