Profile Summary

ABOUT ME: I have been working across academia and industry for the last 15 years and held positions that were often a mix between research and management consulting. As a result, I have developed a passion for research with real-world impact. How have I done this? By proposing innovative research methods ("How about running a research-intensive Design Sprint?"), borrowing from management consulting approaches ("How about focusing on the end-users of your research to make sure you work for them too?") or simply writing easily consumable versions of our complicated, academic papers ("Ever thought of publishing on The Conversation or Medium?"). I am currently a Research Fellow with the Adam Smith Business School at the University of Glasgow, where I specialise in: 1 - A method: Design Thinking and Design-Led Innovation; 2 - A discipline: Information Security. Here's a list of some projects I'm working on: - How can Design Thinking help us academics produce rigorous, relevant and impactful research? - Design-Led Innovation: understanding users' needs, leveraging technologies, and meeting business requirements - A framework to design information security systems that are user-friendly for employees (and still secure) HOW I CAN HELP YOU: - Research Consulting: I can advice on research options and stages, based on my extensive experience with qualitative investigations. What problems out there can your research offer solutions to? What are the best funding options for your research? How can you maximise engagement by research participants? How can you make sure your research benefits end-users and reaches the right audiences? - Research Setup and Review of Literature: I can quickly process large amount of information (e.g., papers), deep dive into a specific subject and come up with a synthetic overview, regardless of the topic. I developed these skills while running 6-week consulting projects for public and private clients in which I was Lead Researcher. - Write-up and Dissemination: I can rapidly craft academic papers or provide advice on their ideal structure and help with writing final reports for external stakeholders. I developed these skills from interaction with public and private clients in the consulting-like projects in which I have been involved. My writing style is fresh and impactful, which suits well non-academic outlets. I developed this skill through writing pieces that disseminate my work and research to wide audiences on platforms such as Medium and The Conversations.
