Profile Summary

I am a chemist with a PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, India, currently working as an Institute Postdoctoral Fellow in the same department. My research is centered on the design and synthesis of advanced functional nanomaterials, including covalent organic frameworks (COFs), metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), metal-organic polymers (MOPs), layered double hydroxides (LDHs), metal oxides/sulphides, and heteroatom-doped carbon materials, primarily for applications in electrochemical energy storage, electrocatalysis, and sensing. During my doctoral research, I designed and developed single, dual, and triple heteroatom-doped reduced graphene oxide (N/S/P-rGO) electrode materials, studying how heteroatom doping influences layer separation, hydrophilicity, and redox activity to achieve expanded potential windows (up to ~3 V) and high energy density without sacrificing power density. This work also involved a detailed investigation of cation and anion behavior in aqueous electrolyte systems. My thesis, titled "In situ Synthesis of Heteroatom(s) (N/S/P) Co-doped Porous Reduced Graphene Oxide as Electrode Material(s) for Designing of Binder-free and High-mass loaded Sustainable High Performance Aqueous Symmetric Supercapacitor and Electrochemical Sensor," reflects this body of work and earned me the Excellence in Doctoral Research Award and the Prof. V.K. Gupta Memorial Impactful Young Researcher Award from IIT Roorkee. In my current postdoctoral work, I focus on porous material synthesis, including COFs, MOFs, and MOPs, and study their crystallinity, porosity, and electrochemical performance. A key ongoing project involves engineering porphyrin-based COFs as cathodes for aqueous zinc-ion capacitors, where electrolyte engineering is used to stabilize zinc plating/stripping and suppress interfacial degradation, resulting in high energy storage capability and excellent long-term cycling stability (currently under revision in Advanced Functional Materials). Another major project involves rationally tuning the interlayer spacing of 2D metal layered materials (expanding the d-spacing to ~1.2 nm) and using them as hosts for in-situ COF synthesis, forming well-integrated heterojunction structures. Following COF integration, the interlayer spacing further expands to ~2.2 nm, as confirmed by XRD, TEM, and TGA, demonstrating strong interfacial interactions that enhance ion intercalation, charge storage capacity, rate performance, and ionic mobility while reducing impedance. I have hands-on expertise in material synthesis, electrochemical analysis (including cyclic voltammetry and data interpretation), and a wide range of characterization techniques such as XRD, FESEM, HRTEM, XPS, Raman spectroscopy, BET, FTIR, NMR (including solid-state NMR), and related software tools (Origin, Nova, Gatan, ChemDraw, VESTA, and Materials Studio). To date, I hold two patents and have authored 18 publications, including first-author and collaborative works, in peer-reviewed journals such as Small, Chemical Engineering Journal, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, ChemComm, and ChemSusChem, with several additional manuscripts currently under review or in preparation in journals including Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Applied Energy Materials, and Chemistry: An Asian Journal. Beyond laboratory research, I have strong skills in scientific writing, manuscript preparation, literature review, and data interpretation, and I am comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively in interdisciplinary research environments. I am a self-motivated researcher with a strong record of translating fundamental materials chemistry into practical solutions for energy storage challenges, and I am committed to delivering rigorous, well-documented scientific work for both academic and industrial clients.
