Profile Summary

I am an experienced Public Health and Nutrition professional with over 15 years of combined academic, clinical, leadership, and community service experience in Ethiopia. I currently serve as an Assistant Professor of Public Health in Nutrition at Debre Markos University, where I have been teaching, coordinating academic programs, leading institutional units, and contributing to quality assurance, research, and community service initiatives since 2016. My academic career includes progressive roles from Lecturer (2016–2020) to Assistant Professor (2020–present), alongside leadership positions such as Public Health Nutrition Unit Leader and module coordinator. My professional background is strongly grounded in public health practice, having worked as a Public Health Officer, clinician, health center head, and case team leader across South Wollo and East Gojjam zones. I have extensive hands-on experience in maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health, outpatient and child health services, and primary health care management. I possess substantial expertise in training facilitation and capacity building, serving as a regional and national trainer for key public health and nutrition programs including IMNCI, ICCM, CMAM, ENA, AMIYCN, CBNC, NASC, and HIV-related services, in collaboration with regional health bureaus, the Federal Ministry of Health, universities, and international partners such as JSI, Pathfinder, and IFHP. I have facilitated training-of-trainers (TOT) programs, clinical mentoring, and performance review meetings, including in conflict-affected areas. In addition to teaching and training, I actively contribute to the scientific community as a peer reviewer for international journals such as PLOS ONE, Dove Press, and SAGE Open, and I am a member of multiple professional associations. My skills include research methods, data analysis, academic writing, and proficiency in statistical and public health software including STATA, SPSS, EpiData and WHO Anthro. I have more than 36 publication and 1 ongoing project.
