Profile Summary

Associate Professor of Agricultural Microbiology at the University of Milan with over 10 years of experience in microbiology, microbiome research, food and wine fermentation, bioinformatics, and biostatistics. My research focuses on the characterization of microbial communities through culture-dependent and culture-independent approaches, including 16S rRNA gene sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, metabolomics, and culturomics. I have extensive experience in the analysis of microbiome datasets, microbial ecology, fermented foods, wine microbiology, and host–microbiome interactions. I have authored more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications and have participated in several national and international research projects involving microbiome science, food systems, nutrition, and sustainable fermentation processes. I currently lead research activities investigating microbial consortia in wine fermentation, fermented foods, and gut microbiome modulation.
