Profile Summary

I have developed my research experience working in a research laboratory in the field of chronic inflammatory diseases. Specifically, my research career has been focused on the study of chronic musculoskeletal pathologies from a pathophysiological and immunological point of view. Additionally, I collaborated with the Microbiological Research Unit in a project to create a biomaterial that is capable of stimulating bone growth while minimizing bacterial adhesion to reduce the incidence of prosthetic failure. Furthermore, we have been able to demonstrate a promising bone regeneration pathway with possible transfer to the patient in the not too distant future. On the other hand, the study of bone comorbidity in HIV-patients has provided me a solid experience in the study of chronic inflammation markers and innate and adaptative immune system responses. Further, I have studied the effects of chiropractic manipulation (with ActivatorV) in osteoarthritis (OA) model of rabbits (cartilage damage, bone turnover and synovial inflammation). During 6 amazing months, I was enrolled in the hectic adventure of finding the best drug to inhibit vascular calcification at Sanifit. Working as a senior researcher, I developed experimental models of calcification and studied the beneficial effects of SNF472 on these physio-pathological processes. Finally, I am working as a postdoctoral scientist in the Andalusian Network for the design and translation of Advanced Therapies. Mainly, my work is the responsibility of producing advanced mesenchymal stem cell therapies.
