Profile Summary

I am a PhD student at the MRC Cognition & Brain Sciences Unit, University of Cambridge, currently in the final stages of completing my thesis on cognitive abilities and memory training in children. My work examined the source of memory impairments in children with mathematics and/or reading difficulties, and investigated how these causes influence the effectiveness of cognitive training for children with these learning profiles. My interest and expertise lie in child cognitive development as powerful target of psycho-social health prevention and intervention, and in cognitive training. Taking an innovative approach on cognitive training as a tool to understand memory deficits, the ultimate goal of my research is to inform intervention practice for children who struggle at school. Throughout the years I have mastered the management and analysis of large complex cognitive datasets, collaborated and negotiated with different professionals including head teachers, teachers, parents, practitioners and researchers, and run extensive cognitive assessment and training of primary school children. I am proficient in the use of SPSS and AMOS packages for data analysis, of Excel for graphical representation of results, and I have experience in conducting literature searches and reviews as well as editing for publication purposes.
