I’m an ambitious PhD student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London, with a background in Oceanography. I am investigating the potential use of ocean iron fertilisation as a carbon dioxide removal technology.

I previously worked as project geologist, carrying out research for a range of projects, often in unfamiliar areas. I was challenged with extending databases, collating information from a large variety of sources. I carried out further work on my interests in oceanography, and helped develop a new area of the company. This improved my skills in effect research and time management, which I utilised throughout my further study.

I was elected as the Scientific Advisor for a student run social enterprise business. It was key to fully research the scientific feasibility before coordinating with design and finance teams. This developed my ability to select and communicate key information, and to use the expertise of group members to work together towards solutions.

I am currently on the organising committee for an event showcasing current research issues at Imperial College. This has required creativity to design an engaging programme, and a high level of organisation to ensure that the day runs smoothly.
