Profile Summary

My research interests encompass the structure-bioavailability relationships exhibited by nanocomposites, and the selection of beneficial properties in polymers, nanoparticles, and their resulting composites. Specifically, I am driven to investigate the areas of drug nanocomposites, tuning and retention of unique nanoparticle physical properties in composites, and investigating its activity and stability. My research plans aim to 1) Develop new nanoparticles and nanocomposites for use as advanced high structural materials to improve final products of different active ingredients; this includes investigate various laboratory and computerized technologies to obtain the best model. 2) Further study the changing properties that occur throughout the processing and operation of composites and nanocomposites, to seek widely-applicable property relationships, emphasizing and utilizing the opportunities made available by nanoparticles. 3) Develop an adaptable “tool kit” of compatible, renewable, and reliable functional nanocomposites, as well as their tailored component structures, allowing rapid engineering by combining the toolkit's components into complex custom devices achievable through additive manufacturing techniques. Research within these interests shows great promise for wide-reaching impact in academic and industrial circles and is ideally positioned to receive funding by public and private corporate partners. For my future research plans, I will be selecting areas of interest that are well-suited to expanding upon my previous knowledge and expertise. For example, continued research into the chemistry-stricture-biological activity relationship by renewable and functional nanocomposites for a wide variety of applications, based on my PhD experience of in-vivo/ in-vitro characterization. This is widely applicable to many fields of nanomaterials and composites since the reliable processing of materials is one of the largest hurdles to pharmaceutical product development. Likewise, such investigations are valuable to the pharmaceutical industry in general, uncovering fundamental interactions and driving the development of techniques.
